Depending on the design, we lift and reset a section of pavers around the new base, or build the feature alongside the patio and tie the two surfaces together. Recreational fires at single-family homes generally don’t need a state permit in Massachusetts, though fire code keeps them under three feet across with flames no higher than two feet, and towns can add rules on top of that. Connecticut works much the same way, with local fire marshals setting the terms. Gas line work for a propane or natural gas feature does usually need a permit and a licensed installer. We’ll tell you what your town expects before anything gets built.
